Jan Senn Hut

The Jan Senn Hütte sits at 2,345m in the Zillertal Alps, accessible from the Zillertal valley in central Tyrol. Reach it from the Mayrhofen area via the Zillertal villages. The standard approach takes 3–3.5 hours from Ginzling, climbing steadily through forest and alpine meadow to the hut. Summer scrambles and winter ski routes also converge here, making it a hub for east–west traverses across the range.

The hut sleeps around 60 guests in dormitory beds and a few small rooms. Meals are cooked to order; bring your own food or eat the standard dinner, breakfast, and packed lunch offerings. Full board terms apply. The hut has a small bar and sits just off major ridge routes—the Zillertal High Route passes directly. Water comes from melt and seasonal streams; solar panels and gas heating support the high-altitude setting. The hut opens from mid-June through September, depending on weather and snow melt. Winter access is ski-only and requires a guide.
