Lizumer Hut

Lizumer Hütte sits at 2,019m in the Lizumer Berge, a quieter section of the Zillertal Alps. Reach it from Lizum village (7km south of Fügen) via the marked path through larch forest—allow 2.5 hours. The hut works as a base for day walks across the Lizumer Berge and as a waypoint for longer traverses toward the Greizer Hütte or Ahornspitze. Summer hiking dominates here, with reliable paths above the tree line.
The hut offers 40 beds split across dormitories and a handful of double rooms. Meals are Austrian standard: hearty soups, schnitzel, kaiserschmarrn, and vegetarian mains. The kitchen supplies packed lunches. You get showers (pay per use) but no WiFi—this is deliberate. The hut stays open mid-June to early October, depending on snow conditions. Winter mountaineers sometimes approach in spring, but the hut itself closes completely.
Book directly by email or phone. July and August fill fast; contact the hut in March for mid-summer dates. May and September offer better availability. The hut doesn't use online booking platforms, so phone calls or emails are your only options. Expect to pay 25–35 euros per bed in the dormitory, meals separate. Confirm opening dates before traveling—early or late season snow can shift closure periods by weeks.
