Neue Fürther Hut

The Neue Fürther Hütte sits at 2,201m in the Zillertal Alps, roughly 4 hours on foot from Fürth im Zillertal. The standard approach follows the valley floor east from the village, then climbs steadily through forest and alpine pasture to the hut. The route is well-marked and straightforward, making it accessible to fit hikers without technical skills. In winter, check access conditions before setting out—snow can block the path for weeks.
The hut is run by the Austrian Alpine Club (OeAV) and holds 50 beds in shared dormitories. Half-board (breakfast and evening meal) is standard; the kitchen does solid mountain cooking. Facilities include a dining room with a wood stove, an outdoor terrace, and basic shower facilities. Camping is not permitted. The hut typically opens from June through September, sometimes extending into October depending on weather. Call ahead in shoulder months to confirm.
Book directly by phone or email at least one month in advance, especially for July and August weekends. July and August are peak season—the hut fills quickly. Weekday visits have better availability. Groups should contact the hut manager well ahead. Winter visits are possible with prior arrangement; phone to check conditions and whether the hut can host you.
