Neue Prager Hut

Neue Prager Hütte sits at 2,796m in the Stubaier Alps, above the Elferkogl valley south of Stubai Zillertol. The standard approach is from Elferhaus (1,990m) via the Elferkogl trail, which takes 3.5–4 hours of steady climbing. In winter or bad weather, snow and rockfall can make sections difficult. Alternative access from the Habicht direction is longer and more exposed. The hut perches on a high saddle with views across the surrounding peaks and is surrounded by marked routes to higher summits.
DAV manages the hut and maintains 84 beds across shared rooms. Full meals and packed lunches are available. The kitchen serves hearty Alpine fare. Showers are available, which is excellent for a hut at this elevation. The hut runs year-round, though winter access depends on snow conditions and avalanche risk—check conditions before committing to a winter visit. The building is well-maintained and the atmosphere is serious and working-focused rather than touristy.

Outside summer, you can usually book with a few days' notice. Confirm current opening dates and conditions before travel, especially in shoulder seasons.
