Skihütte Zams

Skihütte Zams sits at 1,780m in the Ötztal valley near the village of Zams in Tyrol. The hut is reached on foot from Zams village in approximately 1.5 hours via a steady hiking trail through mixed forest. Summer access is straightforward; winter approaches depend on snow conditions and your ski touring ability. The location works as a base for day hikes into the surrounding peaks or as an overnight stop on longer valley traverses.
The hut offers simple alpine accommodation with meals focused on traditional Austrian mountain food. Capacity is modest—expect around 40 beds across mixed dormitory and small private rooms. The kitchen provides hearty dinners and packed lunches on request. There is no WiFi, so plan accordingly if you need connectivity. The hut operates year-round with adjusted staffing in shoulder seasons, though it's busiest from July through September and during winter weekends.
Book directly by phone or email at least two weeks ahead for weekend visits in summer. July and August can fill quickly, so aim for three to four weeks' notice if those months are your target. Email is reliable if you don't speak German, though the staff speak some English. Confirm your arrival time when you book, especially if you're arriving late. The hut accepts cash and card payments.
