Tortalalm Hochleger
2.9About
The hut holds 40 beds across multiple dormitories and a few double rooms. Meals are hearty Austrian fare: full dinners, packed lunches for climbers, and a simple breakfast. The kitchen produces good food at reasonable prices. Facilities include a wood-fired sauna, drying room, and a small bar. The hut runs year-round but receives most visitors from June to September. Winter access requires good conditions and snow experience.
Book at least 4 weeks ahead for July and August weekends. Contact the hut directly by phone or email for availability. The OeAV manages the hut. Expect it to be busy during school holidays and on weekends throughout summer. Weekday visits in June or September offer more solitude. The hut fills quickly for mountaineering weekends when climbers use it as a staging post for nearby peaks.
