Alpe Starkatsgund sits at 1,213m in the Bregenzerwald region of Vorarlberg, a working alpine dairy farm that doubles as a mountain hut. You reach it from the village of Au via the Starerbach valley—a steady 2-hour walk through forest and open pasture. The hut offers simple accommodation in dormitory beds and serves traditional Vorarlberg cuisine, with a strong focus on dairy products from the farm itself.
