Angerhütte

The Angerhütte sits at 1030m in the Bregenzerwald region of Vorarlberg, making it a base for moderate hiking and ski touring in the northern limestone Alps. Reach it from Bezau in about 2 hours on foot via the Schwarzwasser valley, or from Mellau via the Hochälpel pass (2.5 hours). The hut is also accessible by mountain bike in summer. The location puts you on established trails linking the Vorarlberg hiking network, with routes to higher peaks like the Raichberg and connections to other valley huts.
The DAV Sektion Augsburg runs this small, straightforward hut with around 30 bed places. Meals focus on hearty Alpine fare. The hut opens year-round, though services are minimal in low season (November–March). Winter access requires good snow conditions and avalanche awareness; use established ski touring routes only. Summer brings families and day hikers as well as mountaineers using it as a staging point for climbs in the surrounding region. Basic facilities include drying rooms and showers.
Book direct with the hut for July and August stays, especially weekends; email or phone ahead 1–2 weeks minimum. Outside peak season, same-day booking often works. The hut accepts both DAV members and non-members. Pay cash on arrival or arrange payment in advance. Winter bookings require confirmation of access conditions—ask the warden which routes are safe before you go.
