Berghaus Schwaben

Berghaus Schwaben sits at 1513m in Vorarlberg's rolling foothills, accessible from the village of Bezau. The hut lies on several established hiking routes through the Bregenzerwald region. Most hikers approach via marked trails from Bezau (allow 2 to 2.5 hours) or from nearby valleys. The terrain is moderate woodland walking with steady elevation gain. This is a valley-base hut rather than a high-alpine refuge, making it suitable for families and less experienced hikers who still want mountain accommodation.
The hut offers around 60 beds across shared dormitories and a handful of private rooms. The kitchen serves hearty Austrian fare, with dinner and breakfast available to residents and day visitors. The hut has a small bar and sitting area. Water and basic toilets are reliable. It operates year-round, though quieter in winter months when snow may affect access. The OeAV does not manage this hut; it's independently operated.
