Cabin des Diablerets

Cabane des Diablerets sits at 2,486m on the border between the Parc National des Écrins and the Chaîne de Belledonne, accessed via the Vallée de la Romanche. Most parties hike here in 3–4 hours from Bourg-d'Oisans or the Refuge de la Berarde. The approach follows the GR54 Grande Traverse des Alpes, gaining roughly 1,000m through mixed terrain of scree and alpine meadow. The final section crosses a glacial stream—water levels rise in June and after heavy rain, making late-morning crossings safer.
The cabin sleeps 32 in mixed dormitories and offers evening meals and packed lunches cooked fresh on site. Drinking water runs reliably from a mountain spring. WiFi coverage is patchy but functional. The hut opens mid-June through mid-September; winter access requires mountaineering experience and is rarely supported. Facilities are basic: cold showers, pit toilets, and gas heating. This is a working hut, not a resort—expect functional comfort only.

Confirm weather and stream crossing conditions before your approach. A €10–15 deposit typically secures your reservation.
