Bierleinhütte

Bierleinhütte sits at 1,909m in the Allgäu Alps, roughly 90 minutes' walk from Oberstdorf. The standard approach climbs from Lorettokapelle via the Schöllang Valley—steady terrain that gains 700m elevation. The hut marks a junction point for ridge walks toward Hochfrottspitz (2,058m) and access to multi-day traverses across the northern Allgäu range. Winter approaches require ski touring skill and avalanche awareness.
The hut is a DAV-managed refuge run by the Oberstdorf section. It sleeps around 60 people in dormitory-style rooms and private quarters. Evening meals focus on hearty soup, bread, and local dishes; breakfast includes cheese and cold cuts. The hut operates year-round, though staffing thins in late autumn and early spring—check ahead if traveling outside July and August. Water comes from mountain spring; heating is adequate but rooms cool quickly. Cell signal is poor or absent.
Book 4–8 weeks in advance for July and August weekends. The hut fills quickly on Saturdays and during school holidays in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg. Day visits are always welcome on a first-come basis, though meals may be limited on busy days.
