Weisses Haus

Weisses Haus sits at 1,456m in the Allgäu Alps, roughly 90 minutes' drive southwest of Kempten. The approach from Oberstdorf takes 2.5 hours on foot via the Stillachtal valley, following a well-marked trail that gains 600m steadily but never steeply. The hut anchors the eastern edge of the Oberallgäu hiking network, making it a logical base for day walks into the Nagelfluh limestone formations or for longer traverses toward the Höfats and Trettachspitze. Mountain bikers can reach it from the Oytal in under 2 hours if carrying bikes is an option.
Weisses Haus operates year-round and sleeps around 30 guests in simple dormitory and smaller shared rooms. The kitchen serves three meals daily; half-board is standard practice, though you can request half-days or full-board options. Showers are available. The hut remains reliable for weekend stops and weekday quietness, though it fills quickly during school holidays. Winter access requires appropriate snow boots and potentially microspikes in January and February.
Book directly by phone or email at least 4 weeks ahead for July and August weekends. Midweek slots and shoulder seasons (May–June, September–October) are easier to secure. The hut accepts card payment but confirm methods when you call. Parking is available at the trailhead in Oytal, though spaces fill early on Saturdays.
