Imberghaus

Imberghaus sits at 1,213m in the Allgäu Alps, serving hikers crossing the softer limestone terrain between Füssen and the Hörnerdörfer. Reach it in 2–2.5 hours from Pfronten or 1.5 hours from Unterjoch. The hut anchors routes into the Säuling and Säulinggruppe foothills, where trails are gentler than the higher ranges to the east. Winter snow doesn't persist as aggressively as at higher elevations, so shoulder seasons work well here.

The hut holds around 30 guests in simple rooms. It has no restaurant kitchen, so bring your own food or use the small basic shelter facilities to cook. Water is available. You'll find a sleeping bag is essential; the hut doesn't provide them. The season runs April to October, depending on snow cover. This is a working mountain hut, not a leisure destination—expect functional accommodation aimed at hikers using it as a base for 1–2 days.

Contact the hut directly by phone to check availability and confirm you'll bring provisions. July and August book ahead 4–6 weeks; May, June, September and October need less lead time. The hut opens most days during season, but call first outside July and August to confirm someone is present. Credit card facilities may be limited, so bring cash.
