Schuhbräualm

Schuhbräualm sits at 1157m in the Bavarian Alps, accessible from the Schuhbräu valley near Bad Tölz. The hut is a 2-hour walk from the nearest road-end parking. Most hikers reach it as a waypoint on longer tours through the foothills between the Isar valley and the Benediktenwand massif. The approach is steady and well-marked, gaining 400m elevation through mixed forest.

The hut sleeps 19 people in simple rooms and offers hot meals and drinks. A kitchen serves breakfast and dinner; bring cash, as card payments aren't reliable in this remote location. There are no showers, so expect basic alpine accommodation. The hut opens year-round but staffing varies—call ahead in winter to confirm availability. Toilets are outside or in an adjacent building. The setting works well for families and groups doing multi-day loops in the lower Bavarian Alps, particularly those combining Benediktenwand or Sünching with valley-floor stages.

Book direct by phone. The hut fills fast on weekends from June through September, especially in July and August—call at least 3 weeks ahead for weekend stays during peak season.
