Stöhrhaus

Stöhrhaus sits at 1,894m in the Berchtesgaden Alps, a solid day's hike from most trailheads in the Berchtesgaden valley. The main approach climbs from Schellenbergalm in about 4 hours. The hut is accessible from late spring through autumn, making it a reliable base for ridge traverses and peak-bagging in the limestone terrain around the Hochkalter and Reiteralpe massifs.
The DAV Sektion Berchtesgaden manages this modest alpine hut with room for around 30 people in dormitory beds. The kitchen serves filling three-course dinners and substantial breakfasts. You'll find basic facilities: no showers, no WiFi, no phone signal. Half-board is standard. The hut operates from May through October depending on snow conditions. Expect a working alpine hut built for hikers, not comfort-seekers.
