Oberreintalhütte
4.3About
The hut holds 80 beds across dormitory and private rooms. It serves hot meals at dinner and a basic breakfast. Running water and toilet facilities are available, but there are no showers. The hut operates year-round, though reduced staffing in winter means you must book ahead. It's managed by DAV Sektion Garmisch-Partenkirchen and maintains the standards of a proper mountaineering base rather than a leisure destination.
Book by phone directly with the hut—contact them several weeks ahead for summer weekends and peak mountaineering season (June through September). July and August fill quickly. The hut sees heavy use in early autumn when conditions are stable for Wetterstein traverses. Winter ascents to Zugspitze mean January and February also require advance planning. Half-board (dinner and breakfast) is the standard arrangement and mandatory during peak season.
