Casot Spiz Galina

Casot Spiz Galina sits at 2,637m in the Aran Valley, deep in the Pyrenees. Reach it from the Arinsal car park (1,560m) via a steady 4-hour ascent through forest and alpine meadow. The final approach crosses exposed terrain—bring a map and compass in poor visibility. Winter access is unreliable without proper mountaineering experience.
The hut sleeps 8 in shared dormitory bunks. There's a self-catering kitchen with gas stove and basic cookware, so bring your own food. An outside toilet and rainwater collection system are the only facilities; there's no shower or electricity. The hut opens June through September, weather permitting. Its remote location and small size make it a serious base for ski touring in winter and mountaineering routes on Pic de Casamanya (2,740m) and surrounding peaks.
Contact the Arinsal tourist office or the hut caretaker directly to confirm opening dates and book your stay. Space fills quickly in July and August—arrange access at least 4 weeks ahead. Bring a sleeping bag, mat, and headtorch. Water is available from the roof gutters during rain; carry extra on dry days.
