Lodge Zorka Jelinčiča

Dom Zorka Jelinčiča sits at 1,835m in the Julian Alps on the slopes of Virgl above the Podbrdo valley. Reach it from Podbrdo village in 2.5 hours on marked trails, or from Črna Prst pass in 1.5 hours. The hut is a base for ridge walking and scrambling in this less-crowded corner of the range, with routes to Virgl (2,063m) and onward connections to Visoki Klek and Ojstrica.
The lodge holds 36 beds in shared rooms and offers a small restaurant serving traditional Slovenian mountain food. Meals must be ordered ahead. Water comes from a spring; the hut has basic facilities with no shower. PZS and PD Podbrdo run the place from June through September, though it may open for weekends outside these months if group bookings come in. Winter is not reliable.
Book by phone with the management well ahead, especially for weekends in July and August. Ask about meal availability and opening dates when you call. The hut suits hikers looking for quieter terrain than the main tourist routes on Triglav and Kranjska Gora side.
