Hotel BUM
2.5About
The hut manages 60 beds across several rooms. Meals are available for guests and day-hikers: they serve lunch and dinner on request, and breakfast is included with overnight stays. The building has a kitchen, common room with a fireplace, and basic but functional rooms. Water comes from a spring; there is no mains electricity connection—power comes from generators and solar panels. The hut is open year-round, though conditions are harsh in winter and spring melt can affect access. Managed by PZS and PD Drago Bregar, it operates as a working Alpine hut, not a hotel despite its name.
Book directly by phone or email at least 2–3 weeks in advance during summer months (June–September). July and August are busy; aim for June or September if you prefer quieter conditions. The hut is popular with hikers tackling multi-day routes through the northern Julian Alps and with climbers approaching Krn. Winter access depends on snow and weather—confirm conditions before heading out.

Not walking in? These run in the same valley and are worth a day.
- Ljubljana: Savica Waterfall, Lake Bohinj and Lake Bled Tour 8 hours · from €80 · 4.9★ (1,417 reviews) The single best-reviewed way to see both lakes in a day, and the Savica stop is a real (if short and steep) 20-minute stair climb rather than a photo stop — capped at 8 people, so it books out.
- Ljubljana: Lake Bled and Bohinj Tour with Savica Waterfall 9.5 hours · from €94 · 4.8★ (1,014 reviews) Covers the same ground as the tour above on a bigger bus and a longer day, worth it mainly if the small-group version is sold out on your dates.
