Hut pri Savici

Koča pri Savici sits at 653m in the Julian Alps near Lake Bohinj, at the trailhead for Savica Waterfall. The hut is a two-minute walk from the lake's northeastern shore and serves as a base for day hikes to the waterfall and onward to alpine passes. Most hikers approach from Ribčev Laz settlement on the lake's southern shore, a 20-minute walk via the lake path, or from Stara Fužina village across the water. The location makes it accessible year-round for lower-alpine walking.
The hut has 27 beds in multiple rooms and serves meals to guests and day visitors. The PZS-managed facility offers a small shop, basic facilities, and hot drinks. It operates year-round but check staffing levels in winter months before arriving. The hut is popular with families and less experienced hikers because of its low elevation and proximity to Bohinj's infrastructure.

Weekends in June and September also fill quickly. The hut is rarely fully booked in winter, making it a reliable option for autumn and spring trips when the lower passes around Bohinj are snow-free.
