Iztokova Hut pod Golaki

Iztokova Koča pod Golaki sits at 1,261m on the eastern slopes of Golaki in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. The hut serves as a base for routes into the Kamniško-Savinjske Alpe and approaches to Grintovec (2,558m). Most hikers reach it from the village of Kamnik via marked trails; allow 2–3 hours depending on your starting point and fitness. The setting is forested and relatively gentle compared to high-Alpine terrain, making it accessible outside peak season.
The hut offers 40 beds across multiple rooms and provides hot meals for hikers. A basic restaurant operates when the hut is staffed. Water is available on-site. The season typically runs May through October, with variable staffing outside summer. Winter access depends on snow conditions and requires advance notice. Mountain rescue teams and PZS members often use this hut as a waypoint on longer routes through the range.
Book by phone direct with the hut keeper. Call well ahead for July and August weekends. Mid-week slots and shoulder seasons (May–June, September–October) are usually easier to secure. Half-board (bed and dinner) is standard. Confirm opening dates before traveling in shoulder season, as staffing is unpredictable outside the peak summer window.
