Hut na Mangrtskem Sedlu

Koča na Mangrtskem Sedlu sits at 1906m on the Mangrt Saddle in the Julian Alps above Bovec. The hut lies on the main ridge walk between Krn (2244m) to the south and Mangrt (2072m) to the north. Most hikers reach it in 2.5 to 3 hours from Bovec valley. The approach follows marked trails through beech forest, then alpine meadows. The location makes it a natural stop on longer ridge traverses or a base for day walks to nearby peaks.
The hut has 34 beds across multiple rooms. PZS and PD Bovec staff serve hot meals and drinks. The kitchen operates May to October, though the hut sometimes opens for weekend trips outside this period. Conditions at this elevation mean snow lingers into June and returns in October. The hut has basic heating but no showers. Water comes from a spring nearby. Toilets are outside. Expect simple, functional accommodation typical of Alpine huts at this altitude and standard.
Book directly by phone. PD Bovec recommends booking at least 2 weeks ahead for weekends. July and August require 4 to 6 weeks' notice. The hut fills quickly during good weather in June and September.
