Hut pri Izviru Soče

Koča pri Izviru Soče sits at 886m on the Soča River in the Julian Alps, near its source in the Triglav National Park. The hut is a 2-hour walk from the Soča Valley or accessible via the Soča Trail (Soška pot), which connects major huts in the region. Most hikers arrive from Trenta or via the trail from Kobarid to the south. The approach is straightforward valley walking with minimal elevation gain, making it suitable for hikers of mixed ability.
The PZS-managed hut offers 28 beds in rooms of varying sizes. Meals are available, and the hut operates year-round, though winter services may be limited—confirm ahead if visiting November to March. Water comes directly from the Soča. The location makes it an ideal base for day walks along the river gorge and for multi-day trips linking other Julian Alps huts. Expect a basic mountain hut with good hospitality rather than creature comforts.
Book directly by phone with the managing club, PD Jesenice. July and August demand advance booking of at least 1-2 weeks. The hut is quiet in shoulder seasons (May-June, September-October), when you can often walk in without reservation. Winter bookings should be made well ahead. The proximity to Triglav National Park and the Soča's popularity means weekends year-round attract consistent traffic.
