Gašperjeva Hut pod Velikim Kozjem

Gašperjeva Hut sits at 435m on the slopes of Veliki Kozji in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, roughly 1 hour's walk from the village of Kamnik. Park in Kamnik and follow the marked trail toward Veliki Kozji (1,056m). The hut serves as a logical base for day walks in this forested limestone terrain, where steep ravines cut through beech woodland. Most visitors combine a morning climb to Veliki Kozji with an afternoon descent, or use the hut as a waypoint on longer routes connecting into the Kamnik Alps.
The hut is run by PZS and provides basic accommodation in a simple alpine setting. Capacity is modest (around 15 beds), with dormitory-style sleeping and shared facilities. The hut serves hot meals and drinks; bring cash. Opening is seasonal, typically April through October on weekends and public holidays, with full hours during peak summer. Water comes from a spring nearby. The hut has no electricity supply and relies on basic heating, so bring a warm layer even in summer.

Weekday visits are quieter and easier to arrange on shorter notice. The hut is not staffed daily year-round, so confirm hours before heading out.
