Planinski Lodge Gore

Planinski Dom Gore sits at 762m in the lower foothills of the Slovenian Alps, making it accessible for hikers of all abilities. The hut lies in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps region, roughly 30km north of Ljubljana. Most people reach it from the village of Gore by foot in 45 minutes to 1 hour, following marked trails through beech forest. The approach is steady rather than steep, suitable for weekend walkers and families.

The lodge operates year-round and offers basic mountain hospitality. It has capacity for around 30 people in simple rooms and dormitory beds. Meals focus on traditional Slovenian fare—hearty soups, meat dishes, and local cheese. The hut provides hot water, toilets, and a small common area. There is no electricity in the rooms. The location works well as a base for day walks into the surrounding hills or as an overnight stop on longer routes through the Kamnik range.

Book directly through the PZS (Planinska zveza Slovenije) hut network or contact the hut keeper. Weekend stays can fill quickly, especially in summer and autumn. Winter access depends on snow conditions—confirm opening status before travel. The hut operates on a self-catering model in quiet periods, so call ahead to arrange meals if you're visiting outside peak season.
