Hut na Pikovem

Koča na Pikovem sits at 992m in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, serving as a base for hikes across the lower ranges of central Slovenia. The hut is accessible from the village of Dol pri Polzeli, roughly a 2-hour walk uphill through forest. Most hikers approach via marked trails from the wider Polzela area. The hut works well as a stepping stone for longer ridge traverses across the Kamnik Alps or as a standalone destination for weekend walkers from Ljubljana.
The hut offers 20 beds split across simple rooms. Meals are available on weekends and by arrangement on weekdays—expect traditional Slovenian fare. Water comes from a spring on site. The hut is open year-round but staffing varies; confirm ahead if visiting outside summer weekends. Facilities are basic: no shower, no electricity, wood-fired heating in winter.

Summer weekends (June through September) fill up, so book 2-3 weeks ahead. Winter visits require advance notice to confirm the hut will be staffed and heated.
