Planinski Lodge na Peci

Planinski Dom na Peci sits at 1665m in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, above the village of Peci. The approach takes 2 to 2.5 hours on foot from Mežica, gaining 800m through forested terrain. The hut serves as a base for ridge walks across the northern Kamnik-Savinja range and approaches to peaks like Grintovec (2558m). The location puts you between the Slovenian Lowlands to the north and deeper alpine terrain to the south.

The lodge is managed by PZS through Planinsko društvo Mežica (the local Alpine club). It has capacity for around 30 guests in mixed dormitory rooms. Meals are simple and hearty: soups, stews, and local specialities. Hot water and basic toilet facilities are available. The hut operates year-round but is quietest in November and April. Winter access requires mountain experience and avalanche awareness. Advance notice is essential for winter stays.

Book 6 to 8 weeks ahead for July and August weekends. Contact the lodge directly by email or phone. The club welcomes self-catering groups for longer stays if arranged in advance. Payment is cash only—bring euros. The hut's small size and location mean it fills quickly during summer holidays and autumn weekends.
