Planinarska Kuća na Strahinjščici

Planinarska Kuća na Strahinjščici sits at 618m on the slopes of Strahinjščica mountain in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. The hut is 2.5 hours' walk from the town of Kamnik, following marked trails through forested slopes. It serves as a base for day hikes across the Kamnik plateau and as a staging point on longer ridge traverses toward Krvavec and beyond.

The hut is small and basic, run by the local PZS branch. It has capacity for around 30 people in dormitory rooms and offers simple meals—typically soups, stews, and bread. The kitchen provides hot water for instant coffee and tea. There is a basic toilet and washroom; shower facilities are limited. The hut is open year-round, though winter access may be difficult depending on snow conditions. It functions as a genuine working hut for local climbers and weekend hikers rather than a hotel.

Contact the PZS Kamnik section directly to book beds. The hut fills on weekends in good weather and during the peak summer months (July–August). Book at least two weeks ahead for weekends in summer. The hut accepts walk-ins when space is available, but do not rely on this in peak season. Bring cash—the hut has limited card payment facilities.
