Štuhecov Dom sits at 1181m on the northern slopes of Pohorje, a forested mountain range between the Drava Valley and Savinja Valley. The hut is accessible from multiple directions. From Ruše (30km south of Maribor), follow the marked trail to Črešnjica (1286m) in around 2.5 hours, then descend slightly to the hut. Alternatively, approach from Vevče or via the Pohorje ridge trail system. The hut works well as a waypoint on longer Pohorje traverses rather than a destination in itself.
The lodge offers around 30 beds in mixed dormitories and a few double rooms. Meals are served daily when the hut is staffed.
