Brochhütte

Brochhütte sits at 1499m in the Oberhasli valley, easily reached from the village of Gsteig. The hut is a 2-hour hike from Gsteig via the Blacki trail, making it an accessible base for moderate Alpine walks. From here you can reach higher peaks and passes in the Bernese Oberland without technical climbing. The hut sits well below the tree line, so access is reliable year-round where there's no snow.

The SAC Oberhasli section runs this 43-bed hut as a working base rather than a destination in itself. Meals are served daily, focusing on hearty mountain food. Water comes from the local spring. Basic dormitory accommodation keeps costs down. The hut is open year-round, though winter access may be weather-dependent and requires checking conditions beforehand. Facilities are functional—expect a working hut, not a hotel.
