Berghütte Hornklause

Berghütte Hornklause sits at 1,070m in the foothills of eastern Switzerland, accessible by a 1.5-hour hike from the village of Säntis. The hut has 16 beds split across simple dormitory rooms. Staff prepare traditional Swiss mountain food: filling dinners and hearty breakfasts using local produce where possible. There is no shower, but washing facilities are available. The hut stays open year-round, though staffing is lighter during winter months—contact ahead if visiting November to March. The location works well for groups and families seeking an accessible first taste of Alpine hut culture without high altitude or technical climbing.
