Refuge Facetti (ex Baita di Sciuch) M.2000 (SO)

Rifugio Facetti sits at 2,000m in the Sondrio valley region of the Italian Swiss Alps. Reach it via the village of Madesimo: allow 2–2.5 hours hiking from the road end at Rifugio Gemelli (1,910m). The approach follows high mountain pasture with steady ascent. In winter, access may be restricted depending on snow conditions. The hut also serves hikers on regional circuits crossing the Val Malenco and Val Masino areas.
The refuge operates year-round and holds around 50 beds in mixed dormitories. Meals are basic but substantial—pasta, polenta, and local cheese feature regularly. Hot showers available. The kitchen can prepare packed lunches on request. This is a working mountain hut, not a hotel; expect straightforward comfort and no frills. A wood stove keeps the common room warm on cold evenings. The hut doubles as a base for ski touring in winter months.

Phone ahead in shoulder seasons (May–June, September) to confirm opening, as staffing can be variable. Weekend capacity fills quickly. Arrive early or book several days in advance for July and August.
