Cabin Alpe Saléi

Capanna Alpe Saléi sits at 1777m on the Alpe Saléi plateau in the Ticino Alps. The hut is reached from Bosco Gurin, a village in the Val Divedro about 2–3 hours on foot via marked trails. Most parties approach from Zurbrügg or via the ridge paths linking the alpine meadows. The location offers straightforward access to the Nufenen Pass region and connects well to longer traverses across the Lepontine Alps.

The hut holds 30 beds split between 3 private rooms and dormitory space. Meals are provided by the hut team; alcohol and snacks are available. Drinking water is on site. There is no self-catering kitchen. The hut operates seasonally—confirm opening dates before travel, as this is a mountain hut with strong weather exposure. The atmosphere is typical of smaller Ticino huts: simple, functional, and focused on hiking access rather than comfort.

Book by phone to secure beds, particularly for July and August weekends. The hut fills quickly during school holidays and fair-weather weekends in summer. Off-season (May, June, September, October) has more availability but check weather and opening status before departure. Ring ahead the day before arrival to confirm meal arrangements if you have dietary requirements.
