Cabin Basodino CAS

Capanna Basodino sits at 1,856m in the Ticino Alps near the Swiss-Italian border. The hut is accessible from multiple directions. From Fusio (a small hamlet in the Valle Bavona), allow 2 hours to reach the hut via a steady path that gains 600m. From Robiei on the eastern side, the approach is shorter but steeper. A winter access route via Nufenen Pass exists for experienced winter hikers, though the hut operates year-round. Spring and autumn offer the most reliable access conditions.
The SAC-managed hut sleeps 59 across mixed dormitory rooms. Full meals are served daily—book your dinner when you reserve beds. The kitchen doesn't offer self-catering options, so plan accordingly if you need flexibility. Drinking water is available on-site, and WiFi connectivity exists despite the remote location. The hut makes a logical base for exploring the surrounding peaks and traversing into the Val Leventina.
