Cabin Cadlimo

Capanna Cadlimo stands at 2,570m in the Pizzo Ticino range of southern Ticino. The hut sits above Ritom valley and serves as a base for traverses across the Gotthard region. Most hikers approach from Ritom via the Cadlimo Pass trail, which takes 3–4 hours from the valley. The hut is also reachable from Carì on the Pizzo d'Arna route, though this approach takes longer. Both routes are well-marked and gain substantial elevation.
The hut sleeps 76 across dormitory rooms and has basic facilities. Meals are served daily during the season—the kitchen prepares hearty mountain food and can accommodate vegetarian diets. A self-catering kitchen is available if you want to cook your own food. Drinking water comes from a reliable source. The SAC/CAS Uto Zurigo manages the hut and keeps it open from June through September, with restricted opening in shoulder months—check ahead for spring and autumn dates. Standard alpine hut sleeping arrangements apply: blankets provided, bring your own liner or sleep sack.
Book directly by email or phone, especially for July and August when the hut fills quickly. Summer weekends often book out 4–6 weeks ahead. May and September offer more availability and are excellent times for hiking the surrounding peaks with fewer crowds. The hut staff speak German, Italian, and English.
