Vermigel Hut

Vermigel Hut sits at 2,042m in the Ticino Alps, making it a solid base for hiking the Val Verzasca and surrounding terrain. The approach from Lavertezzo village takes 2.5 to 3 hours on a marked trail that gains 900m steadily through forest and alpine meadow. The hut perches on a south-facing slope with good views down the valley. Lavertezzo is reachable by road from Locarno (about 1.5 hours by car or bus).
The SAC-managed hut has 34 beds across multiple rooms. Meals are prepared daily by the warden—expect simple hearty food rather than creative cooking. Drinking water comes from a reliable source. WiFi is available, which is unusual for huts at this elevation. There's no self-catering kitchen, so you eat what the hut provides or bring your own food. The hut typically opens May through October, though confirm dates before planning your trip.
