Refuge Bim Se al Lago

Rifugio Bim Se al Lago sits at 1,800m in the Ticino Alps above the Val Verzasca. You reach the hut in roughly 2.5 hours from Sonogno, hiking up the Verzasca valley on a well-marked trail. The route climbs steadily through mixed forest and opens into alpine meadow as you approach the lake and hut. The setting is intimate rather than grand—a working base for exploring the surrounding peaks and passes rather than a destination hut.
The refuge holds 24 beds across a handful of rooms. Meals are available on request; call ahead to confirm what's cooking. The hut has basic facilities: running water, toilet, and simple heating. It operates year-round but check conditions in winter before heading up. The nearest supply point is Sonogno, a small village with a shop and restaurant at the valley floor.
