Etzlihütte

Etzlihütte sits at 2,052m on the Säntis massif's western slopes, above the Säntisalp region in Uri. The standard approach is from Säntis itself—a 1.5-hour descent via the well-marked trail heading southwest. Alternatively, approach from Appenzell via the Säntisalp in 2.5-3 hours. Both routes are straightforward hiking on established paths. The hut is accessible year-round for day visitors, though seasonal winter conditions dictate actual hike feasibility.
The SAC Thurgau section operates this 75-bed hut with a dormitory-based setup. Cooked meals are available, including a vegetarian option. Hot showers and drinking water are provided. The hut serves as a solid base for ridge walking in the Säntis region and offers views across Uri toward the central Alps. It's quieter than the high-altitude huts on the main ridge, making it suitable for those wanting reliable accommodation without the crowds.
