Glattalphütte

Glattalphütte sits at 1896m in the Glatttal valley, Uri canton, on the northern flank of the Mythen massif. The hut is accessible via a 2-hour walk from Ibach (accessible by train to Schwyz, then local bus). The approach climbs steadily through mixed forest and alpine meadow, gaining roughly 600m. In winter, snow access may require mountaineering skills depending on conditions.
The SAC Sektion Mythen-run hut sleeps 51 across mixed dormitory rooms. Hot meals are served daily during the season; a self-catering kitchen is available if you bring your own food. Drinking water comes from the hut's own supply. Toilets and basic washing facilities are standard. The hut typically opens year-round, though winter weekends require prior notification. This is a working hut, not a destination in itself—use it as a base for day walks in the Mythen region or as a transit point on longer valley traverses.
Book directly with the hut by email or phone, particularly important for weekend stays and winter visits. Summer weekends (July–August) fill quickly; aim to book at least two weeks ahead. Weekday slots are generally more available. Confirm opening dates before planning winter trips, as reduced staffing may limit services.
