Lidernenhütte SAC

Lidernenhütte sits at 1,727m in the Maderanerthal valley south of Amsteg, Uri. The hut is reached via a 2.5-hour hike from Amsteg railway station following the Maderanerbach creek through forest and alpine meadow. The valley route is straightforward and suitable for most fitness levels, making this a good base for accessing the surrounding peaks and passes rather than a destination requiring high mountain skills.
The SAC-managed hut sleeps 87 across multiple dormitories and a few private rooms. Meals are served daily during the season, or you can use the self-catering kitchen if you prefer to cook. Drinking water is available on site. The hut operates year-round but staffing and meal service are reduced in winter months—confirm availability before planning a winter visit. The setting is practical rather than remote: good food, reliable facilities, and straightforward access make this a working base for multi-day routes through the Gotthard and surrounding ranges.
Book directly by phone or email, especially for weekends and July–August when demand is high. The hut is busy on Friday and Saturday nights during summer. Booking 2–3 weeks ahead secures a bed for most dates; during peak weeks (mid-July to early August) book 4–6 weeks ahead. Email response is reliable but phone contact is faster for urgent requests.
