Cabin de Bertol CAS

Cabane de Bertol sits at 3,311m on the ridge between Evolène and Arolla in Valais. Reach it from Arolla in 3.5 hours via the Col de Riedmatten (3,630m), or from Evolène in 4 hours over rougher terrain. Both routes are straightforward mountain trails with consistent elevation gain. The hut marks a key waypoint on the Haute Route ski traverse and sits within easy striking distance of Mont Collon (3,637m) to the north.
The SAC Section Neuchâteloise manages this 80-bed hut. Simple dormitory accommodation; bring your own sleeping bag or rent bedding on arrival. Meals are cooked to order—book dinner and breakfast when you reserve. Drinking water comes from snowmelt near the hut. Cell reception is poor to absent. The hut operates year-round but staffing is minimal in winter; verify opening dates before visiting off-season. Summer crowds peak in July and August.
