Refuge des Bouquetins CAS

Refuge des Bouquetins sits at 2,980m in the Valais Alps, accessed via the Mont-Fort cable car from Verbier followed by a 1.5-hour hike across high terrain. The approach is straightforward but exposed—bring weather gear. The hut serves as a base for Gran Combin (4,314m) and other Valais peaks, plus high alpine traverses linking the Verbier ski area to surrounding valleys.
The hut has 26 beds across simple shared rooms. Meals are provided: hearty dinners and packed lunches for the next day—essential fuel for the peaks you'll climb from here. Hot showers and toilets are available. There's no self-catering kitchen, so bring stove fuel and cooking gear if you need alternatives. The hut typically opens from June through September, depending on snow conditions. Staff can advise on conditions for any route you're planning.
Book 2–3 months ahead for July and August. Contact the SAC directly or use their online booking system. July weekends and the first weeks of August fill quickly. May and September offer quieter periods with more flexibility. Confirm opening dates before traveling in shoulder season. The hut sits in a landscape where ibex (bouquetins) are common—you're likely to spot them on the approach or from the hut itself.
