Galmihornhütte

Galmihornhütte sits at 2,113m in the Valais Alps, accessed from the valley via the Galmien alp. The hut serves as a base for ridge walks and peak traverses in the region. Most parties reach it in 3–4 hours from the nearest road-accessible village, making it suitable for a first night on longer routes. The approach is straightforward hiking on established paths.
The hut sleeps 35 in shared dormitories. The SAC-affiliated hut serves hot meals daily, and a self-catering kitchen is available if you prefer to cook. Drinking water comes from the mountain spring. The season runs from late spring through early autumn, closing over winter. Phone ahead to confirm opening dates and current conditions, especially if visiting in shoulder months. The hut operates year-round staffing during the main season.
Book direct by phone or email. Mid-July to mid-August gets crowded—reserve 6–8 weeks ahead for those dates. Outside summer holidays, 2–3 weeks' notice usually works.
