Refuge Nacamuli al Col Collon

Rifugio Nacamuli sits at 2,818m on Col Collon, on the border between Valais and the Italian Aosta Valley. Reach the hut from the village of Prarayer (Valtournanche) on the Italian side—a steep 2.5-hour ascent gaining 800m. From the Swiss side via Arolla, allow 3 hours from the valley floor, also crossing high terrain. The hut marks a key waypoint on the Col Collon traverse between the two valleys and serves as a base for mountaineering objectives including Gran Tournalin and Gran Combin approaches.
The refuge holds 70 beds across multiple rooms and offers half-board (dinner and breakfast included) or bed-only options. Meals are straightforward mountain food—pasta, polenta, cheese—fueling rather than frills. The hut operates a small bar. Water comes from snowmelt and glacial streams. Toilets are basic but functional. Open from June through September, depending on snow conditions. The hut's dual-access location and positioning on classic mountaineering routes means it fills quickly during July and August.
