Kitzsteinalm
3.7About
The hut is a traditional alpine farmstead run by the managing family. It offers simple but clean accommodation with roughly 30 beds spread across basic rooms. Meals focus on Austrian alpine fare: hearty soups, roasted meats, and fresh dairy products from the surrounding pastures. The kitchen supplies packed lunches on request. Water comes from a spring. The hut stays open year-round, though staffing and meal service drop off significantly from November to March. Winter access requires good snow conditions and winter hiking experience.
Book accommodation directly by telephone or via email well ahead for July and August weekends, as capacity fills quickly. The hut prefers advance notice for meals, especially if planning to arrive outside typical mealtimes. Walking in without a reservation is feasible on quiet weekdays during shoulder seasons, but don't rely on beds being available.
