Alpl

Alpl sits at 1,844m in the Zillertal, a major valley running south from the Ötztal in Tyrol. The hut serves as a base for hikes into the Zillertal Alps and approaches to peaks around 3,000m. Reach it from the village of Zell am Ziller in 3.5–4 hours on foot via marked trails, or approach from the Zillertal's side valleys. Winter access depends on snow conditions and avalanche forecasting. The hut lies within the OeAV network and caters to serious hikers and mountaineers working on multi-day traverses across the range.
The hut provides around 30 beds across shared and smaller rooms. Evening meals are available; order breakfast the night before. Water comes from natural sources. Facilities include a warm drying room essential for wet gear. Open year-round, though winter visits require advance notice and assessment of mountain conditions. Staff confirm access before you arrive in colder months. The immediate surroundings offer easier ridge walks and scrambles for rest days, plus direct access to steeper terrain for those aiming higher.
