Roßkogelhütte

Roßkogelhütte sits at 1778m in the Zillertal, an easy walk from the valley floor near Zell am Ziller. The hut is accessible via a marked hiking trail that takes roughly 1.5 hours from the village. Summer hikers use it as a base for trails into the Zillertal Alps. The location works well for moderate day walks and as an overnight stop on longer Zillertal routes.
The hut is run by the Austrian Alpine Club (OeAV) and offers around 50 beds in simple rooms. The kitchen serves traditional Tyrolean food, with hearty dinners and packed lunches available. Facilities include a guest kitchen if you prefer to cook. The hut stays open year-round, though staffing is lighter in winter months. Water is sourced on-site. There's no electricity in rooms, and heating is basic—bring warm layers even in summer.
