Bivouac na Prevalu Globoko

Bivak na Prevalu Globoko sits at 1,828m on the Globoko Pass in the Julian Alps, between Tolmin and the Krn massif. Reach it in 2.5 hours from Tolmin via marked trails through beech forests and alpine meadows. The hut lies on the main ridge traverse between Krn (2,244m) and Stol (1,999m), making it a strategic stop for multi-day ridge walks. Winter access requires mountaineering skills and avalanche awareness.
The bivouac is a small, basic shelter with 2 beds total. It offers no running water, no meals, and no warden service—bring your own food, water, and sleeping gear. The hut is unheated. Use it as a staging point for early starts toward Krn or Stol, or as emergency shelter. PZS maintains the structure, but you're responsible for self-sufficiency here. The site is typically accessible from June through September; snow and exposure make spring and autumn crossings serious undertakings.
Book through PZS or PD Tolmin in advance if you plan to rely on the space. Phone ahead to confirm condition and bed availability—bivouacs fill fast during July and August. Bring a sleeping bag, mat, warm layers, and water containers. Solo or small-group mountaineers use this regularly; larger parties should scout alternatives on Krn or Stol.
