Almagelleralp

Almagelleralp sits at 2194m in the Saastal valley, reached via a straightforward hiking path from Saas-Grund. The walk takes roughly 2 hours and gains 600m on a well-maintained trail. The hut sits on open alpine pasture with views down the valley and across to the surrounding peaks. This is a natural stopping point for walkers heading deeper into the Saas Valley or those making day trips from the villages below.
The hut is a working alpine dairy farm as much as a mountain hut. You can stay overnight in simple rooms or sleep in the dormitory. Half-board is standard. Meals centre on local Valais cooking—expect cheese, bread, and hearty mountain fare. The hut operates year-round, though conditions dictate practical access outside summer months. Capacity is modest, around 30 guests. There are no showers; toilet facilities are basic but clean.
